I first started working in the clerical/administrative assistant field when I was taking classes at my local community college. I graduated with an associate’s degree in office systems technology.
Over the course of my career, I have worked in many different office environments. Through a staffing agency, I started as a secretary in a planning office. From there I have worked in customer service in the furniture industry and then on to operating switchboard in the front office of a manufacturing and distribution plant. I performed clerical duties for that company’s medical department.
Through the years I have honed my organizational skills and attention to detail. I have excellent written and oral communication skills along with strong grammar and punctuation skills. I am proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams) having used them throughout my career. I welcome learning new computer programs.
I was a full-time stay at home caregiver for my mother for the last ten years of her life. I learned from this experience that routine and organization is key to keeping things running efficiently. It also helped me to polish my skills in communication, appointment setting, and problem solving as well as having compassion and empathy for those who are dealing with being a caregiver themselves.
I live in Collinsville with my Beagle, Sally. I love football, baseball, basketball, and hockey. Cozy mysteries are my favorites to read. I’m gaining skills as a crocheter having completed my third blanket.
